It’s always good to see risk advice getting its moment in the spotlight, and this year Personal Risk Professionals (PRP) has been named the 2026 PPS Mutual Risk Practice of the Year.
Congratulations to the PRP team on a well-deserved result. Their business stood out as a strong example of what high-quality, client-focused risk advice looks like in practice – delivered with care, professionalism and consistency over time.
Just as importantly, congratulations to the other finalists:
-
Hewison Private Wealth
-
Hood Sweeney
-
Keyman Financial Services
-
Skye Wealth
-
MBS Insurance
Each of these practices reflects the depth of quality that exists across Australia’s risk advice community. Being named a finalist in a national award of this nature is no small achievement.
And to the many practices who put their hand up but didn’t quite make the finalist group this year – well done. One of the strongest takeaways from this process was just how many thoughtful, well-run and values-driven risk advice businesses are operating around the country. The standard was high, and the margins were often fine.
Recognising the role of PPS Mutual
A big credit to PPS Mutual for backing this award and, more broadly, for continuing to invest in recognising the contribution of specialist risk advisers as well as those holistic practices taking risk advice seriously.
In an environment where delivering risk advice remains complex, heavily regulated and often under-appreciated, initiatives like this matter. They help shine a light not just on commercial success, but on the role advisers play in protecting Australians and supporting clients through some of life’s toughest moments.
A highly experienced and independent judging process
The judging panel brought together a highly experienced and independent group of industry contributors, including Angus Woods (Adviser Ratings), Sue Laing (The Risk Store Consulting), Peter Sobels (Riskinfo), Sue Viskovic (VBP) and myself.
The process was deliberately designed to take a holistic view of each practice – considering client experience, culture, sustainability, contribution to the profession, and how advice is delivered in the real world, not just on paper.
From a personal perspective, it was a privilege to be involved. Reviewing and discussing so many advice businesses is always a timely reminder of the care, effort and intent that sits behind good risk advice.
More to celebrate than a single winner
While awards naturally culminate in one name being called out, the broader outcome here is worth recognising. This award highlighted the strength of risk advice as a profession, the diversity of approaches that can still lead to excellent client outcomes, and the commitment many practices continue to show despite ongoing pressures.
Congratulations again to PRP, to all finalists, and to every practice that participated.
