5. Data Handling and Privacy

We take reasonable steps to protect data used within the Risk Needs Calculator.

Data used

The calculator may process:

  • Adviser-entered client information such as age, income, assets, liabilities, dependants, and financial assumptions
  • Adviser account information (name and email address)

The Risk Needs Calculator does not collect or process health or medical information. Where advisers import data from other tools (such as the Client Data Hub), they remain responsible for ensuring that any health or sensitive information is handled in accordance with their own privacy obligations.

Data storage and infrastructure

The Risk Needs Calculator operates across two infrastructure layers:

  • Client and scenario data is stored in a managed database hosted within Australian infrastructure (Amazon Web Services, Sydney region). Data at rest does not leave Australia.
  • The application layer is hosted via a US-based cloud platform (Google Cloud Platform). Requests are processed via this layer before being written to the Australian database. Data is not retained in the application layer beyond the duration of a request.
  • Data in transit is protected by TLS 1.2+ encryption. Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256.
  • Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 compliant payment processor. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and do not enter Risk Hub systems at any point.

Anonymisation and minimisation

Client names are not required for calculations. Where possible, data is anonymised or de-identified. Data is used only to support calculator functionality.

You should only enter information you are authorised to use and store. Where client-identifiable information is entered, advisers are responsible for ensuring appropriate consent and privacy compliance obligations are met.

6. Adviser Obligations Regarding Client Information

By using the Risk Needs Calculator, you confirm that:

  • You have appropriate authority to enter client information
  • Your use of the tool complies with your own privacy policy and obligations
  • You are responsible for how outputs are stored, shared, or relied upon

Risk Hub does not independently verify the accuracy or appropriateness of data entered.

7. Intellectual Property

The Risk Needs Calculator, including its calculation logic, interface, and outputs, is the intellectual property of Risk Hub. You may not copy, reproduce, reverse engineer, or commercialise any part of the calculator without prior written consent.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Risk Hub is not liable for:

  • Losses arising from reliance on calculator outputs
  • Errors or omissions in calculations resulting from incorrect data entry
  • Interruptions to service availability
  • Actions taken by advisers on the basis of calculator results

Advisers use the calculator at their own professional discretion and remain solely responsible for advice provided to clients.

9. Changes to These Terms

Risk Hub may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the calculator following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be communicated to active users where practicable.
